Reintegration

Several years ago the United Church of Canada decided to spend some time and resources on the theme of peace. As part of this, they decided to send two youth/young adult delegations to two different countries affected by war. Last year’s delegation went to Israel/Palestine, and this year, the delegation of which I was a part, went to Colombia.

It has been two weeks since I returned to Canada from Colombia. They have been a difficult two weeks as I attempt to reintegrate into Canadian society, not wanting to leave my experiences in Colombia behind, but to bring them with me in some kind of meaningful way. It's also been difficult as I left a group of 15 amazing folks to return to my fairly isolated ministry. I miss having people to converse with and folks with whom I can process my experiences.

Upon my return I essentially jumped right back into work and sort of let the experiences of Colombia and the pressures and joys of work wash over me for a few days as I got my bearings. Now that I think I've got some sense of where I'm at, I'm starting to process the trip and will share some of my stories and photos on here.

Check out these sites for some basic facts about Colombia and some examples of what I learnt:
